COVID-19 Global Pandemic

At the onset of the COVID-19 global pandemic, cities across the country shut down. Interstates were empty. Parking lots left abandoned. Schools and businesses shut down. Aerial photography provides a unique perspective of what an empty Sacramento looks like.

California ‘Megadrought’

In the summer of 2021, the entire West Coast faced what scientists called a ‘megadrought’. A lack of precipitation and high temperatures caused rivers and lakes to dry up. Reservoirs that served water to communities reached critically low levels.
